The BIG BEAUTIFUL BULLSHIT BILL Demands MORE WORK, MORE JOBS, and MORE PAPERWORK!
The paperwork piles up. Make a slip, fail to document, and your Medicaid disappears.
No worries. Joni Ernst has promised, “We all are going to die.”
Work a split shift. Roll up your sleeves and clean people’s homes. Juggle two or three jobs and choose whether you want to do paperwork at midnight or 5:00 AM.
The paperwork keeps piling up. Oh, does it have to be done on a computer? Oops! I don’t have a computer, or I only have an old, clunky one with no Internet. I must squeeze time between my multiple part-time jobs to stop by Starbucks to use their Internet. There goes $10 for a coffee and a crumpet. It’s not in the budget, but I need the Internet.
Life is complicated. Government rules are more complicated. Miss a question, and there goes your Medicaid.
No worries. Joni Ernst promised, “We all are going to die.”
If you’re a “blue collar” worker with a low-wage job, chances are books and filling out paperwork are not your best skills.
But to qualify for Medicaid, Republicans want you to complete more paperwork regularly—to document that you’re working, prove that you’re a citizen, demonstrate that you don’t make too much money, confirm that your address is still valid, and ensure that you need those medications that your doctor said you really must take or that HHS Secy JFK Jr. wants you to take something different.
The Repub plan aims to complicate enrolling in and staying on Medicaid and accessing the Affordable Care Act’s private subsidies. Let’s be clear:
- The Republican goal is to make you fail.
- Republicans are trying to make America sick again!
Failing saves the government money. Never mind that failing means skipping your heart meds, which will lead to you getting sick (again). Never mind that you have a special needs child who cannot be left alone, and daycare is costly.
Just think of the money that Medicaid will save if you mess up your paperwork and die. The money saved will make the SuperRich very happy. It will make Joni Ernst very happy! Maybe her goal is to join the elite ranks of the SuperRich very soon.
- After all, in Joni Ernst’s words, “We all are going to die.”
If we hurry death’s arrival, Joni Ernst will succeed. She truly becomes a role model. Hmm, a role model for what, you may ask? Is she simply telling us, “We all are going to die,” because she assumes we don’t know this? Perhaps this is her way of saying, “Go along, get along” — to demonstrate to Boss Donald Trump that everything is fine on the home front; she still knows how to say, “Yes! SIR!
Or maybe “Role Model” really means rolling in all that dough — the moolah, the extra cash Joni saves by voting for the BIG BEAUTIFUL BULLSHIT BILL that requires more work, more jobs, and all that extra paperwork. If “We all are going to die” soon, more money will be saved — and spent by the SuperRich.
