Former White House counsel Pat Cipollone is the latest Trump aide to have received a subpoena from the Justice Department’s grand jury investigating the lead-up to the January 6th insurrection.
Cipollone had previously testified for the House January 6th Select Committee but refused to answer many questions regarding specific conversations he had with former President Trump. Experts say Cipollone may have to answer those questions if he faces a grand jury. As the highest-ranking Trump White House official to have received a Department of Justice subpoena thus far, his testimony may be a turning point in the Justice Department’s investigation, especially because the January 6th committee presented evidence that Cipollone expressed concerns about former President Trump’s conduct before the events of January 6th.
